The theme of 93rd Indian Science Congress held in Hyderabad from 3rd to 7th January 2006 was Integrated Rural Development: Science and Technology. Concurrent to the theme, The Centre for Development of Advance Computing (CDAC) showcased 12 products in the “Pride of India” exhibition. These were ECKO (Empowering Community through Knowledge), Vyapar, E-Forms, Vartalaap, BharateeyaOO.o, Matrubhasha, DAAL (Doccument Acess Across Language), eSikshak, Ayusoft, E-Nose, Bangla Vaani and Angla-Bangla.

A two day deployment cum training workshop for “Vyapar-The common Market Place” was organized by ICT Research and Training Centre, CDAC Bangalore from May 6th & May 7th 2005 at National informatics centre, West Godavari Collectorate, Andra Pradesh.

E-Seva is an e-governance project being carried out in the Westgodavari dstrict in Andra Pradesh. This project delivers various G2C and C2C services in rural areas. The project basically operates at the mandal level through web enabled rural kiosks called `e-Seva Kendrams'. Vyapar was deployment at NIC Ellur for running in e –seva kendras.

The objective of the workshop was mainly to install the Vyapar at NIC server, expose the e seva operators to Vyapar and also hands on training. Twenty participants from e – seva kendras participated in the workshop

E forms is an easy-to-use powerful tool for creating forms on the fly and do data collection. E forms provide an intuitive interface for quick data collection with minimum effort by understanding the user’s need and data nature. This tool provides a mechanism to generate reports that help in meaningful analysis on collected information.

Deployment of E forms was done at Kutch Nav Niran Abhiyan, an organisation working in Kutch region in Gujarat. The organisation will be using E forms in their Setu Centres, which are mainly acting as information and coordination centres in Villages. Currently there are 18 Setu centres in the Kutch region.

A training workshop was conducted for the staffs of Kutch Nav Niran Abhiyan and the Setu information centres on April 27th, 2005 at K link, Kutch Nav Niran Abhiyan office in Bhuj. E forms were installed in the main head office at Bhuj and the application is accessible to all the Setu centres.

E forms will be mainly used for collecting information from the villages regarding the various activities in the villages through the Setu centres, which is situated across the Kutch region.
