Speech Technology addresses Text to Speech Synthesis (TTS) and Voice Recognition in Indian languages . The aim of this technology is to help educate the under previliged masses of India.
Projects:
Matrubhasha This project is a Unicode based Software solution for Text to Speech Synthesis (TTS) in Indian languages. Matrubhasha is visualized with the objective of building a framework, which can be used by any software developer to incorporate speech capabilities (in Indian languages) into his software thus increasing its usability across different sections of society. Since Matrubhasha uses Unicode text, it enables the TTS engine to recognize multiple Indian languages in the same document. The proposed languages for implementation will cover seven Indian languages for TTS - Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati. More information can be obtained from Matrubhasha website.
